Natural Remedies for Cold and Cough

Get Rid of the Seasonal Cold & Cough Faster with these Natural Tips

We often worry for seasonal cough and cold, we usually wonder what to do when we suddenly catch cold and cough and these COVID situations are creating more panic. Here are a few simple and handy tips that most of you can do to handle such situations.

  • Warm water:

  1. Drink warm water all the time.

  2. Caution: Avoid warm water / warm drinks on an empty stomach if you had issues like gastritis / acidity/ constipation/ ulcers.

  • Warm water + Lemon Juice:

  1. Occasionally drink warm water + lemon juice (2-3 times per day)

  • Lemon shots:

  1. Taking 15ml to 20ml of Squeezed lemon juice in one sip without adding water/ salt/ sugar (Lemon shots are rich in antioxidants and helps to improve immunity and to treat infections)

  • Ginger water:

  1. Warm water boiled with grated ginger

  • Ginger salad:

  1. Chop ginger into small pieces, add salt / lemon juice (until ginger is soaked) and chew it in regular intervals.

  2. When the ginger passes through the throat, gives a tingling sensation. This helps in getting relief from throat infections.

  • Ginger Tea

  1. Ginger in any form is useful in treating bacterial / viral infections.

  • Chana:

  1. Eating roasted chana or chana dal one by one – will also clear your throat.

  • Bed time:

  • 1 glass of warm water/skim warm milk with a pinch of turmeric.

  • Honey, turmeric, garlic acts as a natural antibiotic (helps in killing bacterial infections in the body).

  • Apply Vicks on one piece of tissue, sandwich it with another side. Place it in a thin mask. Put on the mask so that the tissue paper would be intact on your nose, and sleep.

  • Apply Vicks / any balm on the chest (Ancient and most common method to clear plum & lungs congestion ).

  • Take steam to clear your lungs of congestion.

  • Add more vitamin C rich foods in the diet & take protein-rich diet to improve body immunity.

  • Bed warmer also works well.

  • Keep your neck (and head) covered with warm cloth often.

  • Keep your head and neck warm with frequent use of hair dryer

  • Supplements:

  1. Vitamin C tab: Up to 5-10 tablets

  2. This will not cause any side effects as Vitamin C being a water soluble & has no toxicity as it leaves the body with 24 hours.

  3. Omega 3 tab: Up to 3 capsules (1-1-1)
